I Have Seen Heaven And It’s This Party Of 361 Golden Retrievers For The Breed’s 150th Birthday

Birthday parties usually suck. You get some garbage gift to your friend, but they’re too busy entertaining and hosting. So you’re stuck talking to some stranger about their investment job for two hours only to realize at the end of the night that he was just trying to get you to be his next customer. Well, this birthday party didn’t suck. This epic birthday bash featured 361 happy golden retrievers. I must imagine that heaven looks something like this.

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS! Have you ever seen so many good boys all in one place?!?! The gathering of one of (if not) the best dogs in all existence went down in Scotland. The party was thrown at the Guisachan Estate in the Scottish Highlands where golden retrievers were first bred in 1868. This overdose of aww was to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the precious breed.

I want to mainline this video into my veins.

Apparently, the breed was started when Nous, a yellow-colored wavy-coated retriever and Belle, a Tweed Water Spaniel made the most adorable puppies ever in the mid-1800s and were set-up by Dudley Marjoribanks, First Baron Tweedmouth. The combination of breeds led to “strong working dogs hunting grouse, partridge, and deer” that could swim, plus hunt over a greater distance and across difficult terrain. The result was the happy retrievers that we all enjoy today.

As if this wasn’t enough golden retriever goodness here’s a toddler playing catch with a golden retriever despite being separated by a fence.
