Earlier this week, we brought you the report that — among other major bombshells — not only was Warner Bros. was “prioritizing” Green Lantern, but that they could potentially pitch the project to J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company, who signed an exclusive $250 million dollar deal with WarnerMedia earlier this year.

In the report from Variety, it states that Warner Bros. had discussions with Creed star Michael B. Jordan about the role of Superman, however, it did not mention any conversations about who would be leading Green Lantern, despite the fact that the studio was reportedly “prioritizing” the property.

Now, just a few days later, We Got This Covered has reported — citing sources who told themGreen Lantern show was in the works a month before Variety made it official — that Warner Bros. is rumored to be eyeing Thor star Chris Hemsworth for the role of Alan Scott, the first DC Comics character to ever bare the “Green Lantern” name.

According to sources close to WGTC – the same ones who said J.J. Abrams had been offered a Superman and/or Green Lantern movie, and that a Green Lantern show was coming to HBO Max, both of which have since been confirmed – Warner Bros. reportedly wants the MCU star to take on the role. [via We Got This Covered]

Additionally, We Got This Covered reports that the Alan Scott character could make his debut in 2021’s Dwayne Johnson-starring Black Adam.

The report goes on to state that while Warner Bros. has their doubts that they could convince Hemsworth to take the role due to his career-defining ties to Marvel Studios, the Australian actor still remains atop the studio’s wish list.

In addition to prioritizing Green Lantern, the Variety report from earlier in the week also stated that Warner Bros. may also give J.J. Abrams the option to direct a new Superman film.
