While Hayley Atwell has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade now, she only got to become a superhero (in live-action, at least) in her most recent appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Atwell — alongside the likes of John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic, Patrick Stewart as Prossefor X, Lashana Lynch as Captain Carter, and Anson Mount as Black Bolt — had a cameo role in the 2022 film as a member of an alternate-universe superhero team known as the Illuminati.

The Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One star, however, apparently wasn’t too thrilled with how her cameo in Doctor Strange played out, as she said during a recent interview that she was left feeling “frustrated” by it.

“She was like, ‘I could do this all day’ and … she’s immediately cut in half by a Frisbee,” Atwell said during a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “And then the audience [was] like, ‘She can’t do it all day. Apparently you can’t, so, yeah, egg on your face.’ I’m like, Oh. That doesn’t really serve Peggy very well.”

“So it felt like a frustrating moment in [Doctor] Strange, because you’re like, ‘She had less to do than what she did before she had the shield!’”

Atwell can next be seen starring in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which is now playing in movie theaters across the United States. Atwell is also set to return for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, which is currently scheduled to release next summer.

In addition to Atwell — who joins the franchise for the first time as the scene-stealing pickpocket Grace — Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, and more.

You can watch Atwell’s full interview on Happy Sad Confused below. Her comments about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness happen around the 30-minute mark.
