It will certainly be fascinating to see what the viewership is like for the series premiere of House of the Dragon, as many fans have spent the years since Game of Thrones went off the air decrying the franchise for how its final season played out.

As for the books, George R.R. Martin recently provided yet another update on The Winds of Winter, saying on his blog that “it is going to be a big book.”

“The way it is going, it could be bigger than A STORM OF SWORDS or A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, the longest books in the series to date. I do usually cut and trim once I finish, but I need to finish first,” Martin said.

House of the Dragon, will feature an ensemble cast that stars Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, and more, will hit HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
