At that time, we were blown away that someone was able to use the smallest contextual clues from the show to figure that out. Years later, someone has now used the same episode to figure out how rich Robin Scherbatsky’s family is.

We always knew Robin Scherbatsky’s family was wealthy. Her dad would show up with the mysterious air of someone who ‘lives comfortably’ and her growing up wealthy was mentioned throughout. But Robin Scherbatsky was a childhood music star and independently wealthy as a successful TV anchor so nobody ever dove into how wealthy her family was, until now… Here’s a video explaining or read on below the video for the explanation.

This TikTok user @GuacamolePhil broke down the math using contextual cues from S09E15 ‘Unpause’. In that episode he says a drunken Barney spends 1 craploads per year on suits and that Robin Scherbatsky’s family is worth 6,000 Canadian craploads.

From S09E19 ‘Vesuvius’, we know Barney Stinson had two rooms containing 210 suits and he had donated 60 suits in S06E12 ‘False Positive.’ We know that throughout the series Barney Stinson had a total of 275 different suits and from S01E15 ‘Game Night’ which was Barney Stinson’s origin story, we know he had been wearing suits for about 15 years since his heart was broken and he was set on his path to finance.

Thanks to S01E16 ‘Cupcake’ we know Barney Stinson spends an average of $4,000 per suit. Given his total number of suits and how much he spends per suit, we know Barney Stinson spends approximately $73,332 each year on suits (he makes $1,173,312 per year).

How Wealthy Was Robin Scherbatsky And Her Family?

Well, now that we know all that @GuacamolePhil uses the USD to CAD exchange rate. Canadian dollars are worth approximately $0.72. So, 6,000 ‘Canadian Crap Loads’ comes out to a total of $316,794,240.

Give or take a few million, that’s a massive fortune that Robin Scherbatsky and her family are overseeing. And now we also know why her and Barney were at least partially such a good fit. He made $1,173,312 each year and her family was worth hundreds of millions. Together, they didn’t have to worry about money.
