One Idaho woman thought she was stepping into a casual restaurant for some chips and salsa while visiting Houston, Texas. She was shocked at the club-like scene she walked into.
In a TikTok with 9,041 views, Camille (@killaaacaaam) says she walked to Ojos Locos Sports Cantina after a trip to Hobby Lobby.
“So who was gonna tell me that Ojos Locos Cantin[a] Restaurant is not a restaurant but more so a … club?” she says, while dancing with an imaginary champagne bottle lit up with sparklers.
She says the vibe was that of a club where you had to pay for a section. She went in because it was the only thing near Hobby Lobby, and she was met with security checking her ID and purse. Further inside were “baddies and BBLs and bikinis.”
“That is a club,” she concludes.
‘I Thought Everyone Knew’
In the comments section, viewers were surprised that Camille had been caught off guard.
She elaborated in response to one viewer. She said, “Idk im from Idaho but I thought it was a hooters vibe too but lowk was giving more than that … like my whole purse was checked at the door l, me[a]n patted down and everyone was in bikinis (it was probably their bikini night) I’m exaggerating but I def wasn’t expecting that lol.”
Others said it made sense she had been caught unawares, as the restaurant had recently upped the ante.
One wrote, “Girl, I only been once before but they were more covered up back then. Like super short shorts and crop tops. When I went recently, they were wearing lingerie. They all looked good! But I too was caught off guard, also my plate didn’t hit.”
‘Like Eating In A Club’
In a Reddit post comparing Ojos Locos to fellow breastaurant Hooters, a customer said, “Ojos Locos music is LOUD. It’s like eating in a club. Was also apparently lingerie night. Hooters is more chill ambiance and uniforms.”
Regarding wings, the customer noted they were big. While they weren’t too crispy, they were “nice and juicy,” with a good jalepeño sauce (though a bit too sour), and a side of ranch.
“Overall, I’d probably stick to Hooters as far as wings go. OL would be good if you’re in the mood for a rowdy sports event but also some different wing flavors,” they concluded.
How Does Ojos Locos Describe Itself?
Ojos Locos operates out of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California. On its website, the restaurant says, “The concept was built to cater to the Latino bringing you a comfortable laid back sports cantina where you can sit back and relax after a hard day’s work, watch your favorite team play, party with friends, dine with family and enjoy outgoing and friendly service by one of our chicas coquetas y bonitas.”
Is Ojos Locos Like Hooters Or Twin Peaks? What’s Different About It?
Delish touts Ojos Locos and Twin Peaks as breastaurants that make Hooters look like child’s play. While Hooters is known for its wings, the Twin Peaks menu consists of more “upscale bar food.” Meanwhile, Delish states that if you were missing street tacos with your breastaurant experience, Ojos Locos is for you. You get the exposed midriffs and low-cut tops you’ve come to expect, with a full menu of beef, pork, seafood, and chicken tacos. In addition to tacos, popular menu items at Ojos Locos include wings, burgers, and salads.
Additionally, while the uniforms at Hooters consist of just tight tops and short shorts, Ojos Locos and Twin Peaks take it a step further with theme nights like Lingerie Fridays. Hooters, on the other hand, canceled its bikini nights.
Do You Need An ID To Get In?
While there’s nothing on its site that notes there’s an age requirement to enter Ojos Locos locations after a certain time, several reviews indicate that’s the case. According to Yelp reviews for a Houston-based Ojos Locos, you need to show ID at the door if it’s after 6pm. And according to a TripAdvisor review for a Dallas location, this has been a practice since at least 2016.
@killaaacaaam pls, I was sat at the bar looking like a lost puppy waiting for my food. Ojos!!! forgive me I was unfamiliar with your game. #ojoslocos #texas #houston
