Inde Navarrette has met with 'Heat 2' director Michael Mann and 'X-Men' reboot director Jake Schreier

After becoming one of the breakout stars of the year thanks to her featured role in the hit horror film Obsession — which has grossed over $400 million worldwide against just a $750,000 budget — actress Inde Navarrette has yet to officially sign on to any projects. She has met with the directors of two massive upcoming movies, though.

In a recent feature interview, the 25-year-old former Superman & Lois actress said she’s had meetings with Michael Mann and Jake Schreier — the former of whom is a legendary director gearing up to helm a sequel to his iconic film Heat, while the latter has been tapped to direct Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot.

Obsession breakout star Inde Navarrette said she’s met with Heat 2 director Michael Mann and X-Men reboot director Jake Schreier

“She has a few dream projects in mind: maybe an action film like Atomic Blonde, except the assassin is ‘teeny tiny,’ or the live-action adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing. Her list of dream directors is even longer: Ryan Coogler, Greta Gerwig, Michael Mann, and Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier, the latter two of whom she’s met with recently,” Nylon wrote in the interview.

Her revelation about meeting with Mann is particularly interesting, as the cast of the film has been reportedly coming together in recent weeks, with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale confirmed to star in the film alongside Adam Driver and Stephen Graham.

Heat 2 will be based on the novel of the same name, which is both a prequel and a sequel to Mann’s seminal 1995 crime film. If Navarrette was meeting with Mann about a role in the project, it would be that of Elisa, the resilient Mexican girlfriend of Neil McCauley — Robert De Niro’s character in Heat — in the prequel portion of the story.

As for a potential X-Men characters she could play, popular suggestions from fans include Kitty Pryde, Mystique, Rogue, and X-23. Navarrette has also been rumored to be circling a role in the A24 film Goblin alongside Kenneth Branagh and Skyler Gisondo, although those reports have yet to be officially confirmed.

Heat 2 will reportedly start filming later this year. While official casting decisions have yet to be confirmed, DiCaprio will reportedly be playing Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer’s character), Bale will be taking over Vincent Hanna from Al Pacino, Graham will be slotting into the role of Neil McCauley, and Adam Driver will be portraying the villain Otis Wardell — a new character from the book.
