‘It’s Always Sunny’ Creator Says The Series Will Absolutely Tackle The Rona Next Season

FX

File this one under the least surprising news of all-time: according to It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia creator Rob McElhinney, the eventual 15th season of the beloved long-running FX comedy will be addressing the biggest story of 2020: The Rona.

Speaking to NME, McElhenney confirmed that when It’s Always Sunny‘s 15th season does premiere — the 14th season just aired on FXX last fall — it will definitely be tackling our current global situation in “the way only Sunny can”, which, as we all know, means unadulterated and depraved chaos will ensue.

Asked what a quarantine-themed episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia would look like, McElhenney said: “Well, we actually do have an episode called ‘The Gang Gets Quarantined’'[season nine, episode seven] where we quarantine ourselves in the bar. I think there’s a big flu going around Philadelphia or something like that.

“When we come back, don’t worry, we will address all this in the way only Sunny can!”

As McElhenney mentioned, coincidentally enough, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia actually already tackled quarantine life in the season nine episode “The Gang Gets Quarantined”.

All fourteen seasons of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia — which seems to find a way to become more hilarious with each passing season — are currently streaming on Hulu.
