Jalen Brunson made his acting debut in 'Law & Order: SVU'
New York Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson made his dramatic acting debut on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit on Thursday night, playing a detective alongside longtime series star Mariska Hargitay, with his father Rick Brunson also making a brief cameo appearance.
Jalen Brunson, who helped lead the New York Knicks to their first NBA championship in 53 years earlier this year, appeared in the Thursday, November 5 episode titled “Forsaken,” playing Detective Jay Madison, a character whose last name is a nod to Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks play their home games.

During the scene, Brunson’s Detective Madison is seen eating pizza at a restaurant when he’s approached by Hargitay’s Captain Olivia Benson, who is seeking information about a previous arrest that could help solve a sexual assault case.
After Benson congratulated Madison on a recent promotion (winning a championship), Brunson delivered a line that served as another not-so-subtle reference to his NBA career.
“Thanks, Captain. Focused on my goals, gave 110%, things worked out,” Brunson says.
Brunson wasn’t the only member of his family to appear in the episode, either, as his father Rick, a former NBA player who currently serves as an assistant coach for the Knicks, can be spotted briefly entering the restaurant just before Benson arrives.

The appearance also marks another collaboration between Brunson and Hargitay, who has become one of the Knicks’ most recognizable celebrity fans and is frequently spotted sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden.
Brunson has previously spoken about his longtime appreciation for Law & Order: SVU and his friendship with Hargitay, who helped make the appearance possible. The Knicks guard has also been expanding his presence in entertainment recently, having hosted the season premiere of Saturday Night Live in September and appeared alongside Hargitay at the Emmy Awards earlier this year.
Brunson’s episode of Law & Order: SVU is now available to stream on Peacock.
