Actor James Van Der Beek, who starred in the popular teen drama Dawson’s Creek, has passed away at 48.
On Wednesday, TMZ reported that Van Der Beek had passed away with no cause of death given.

James Van Der Beek has died … TMZ has learned.
A rep for the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office says … it was reported to them at 6:44 AM. No cause of death was given.
Van Der Beek’s family posted a message on social media following TMZ’s report.
“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share about his wishes, his love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
Back in 2024, Van Der Beek revealed he was battling colorectal cancer

“I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,” the star, 47, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
“There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good,” Van Der Beek adds.
