Joe Rogan said on Wednesday’s show that he once interviewed a guest who “cut a guy’s head off” about a month after the guest appeared on the show. Rogan made this reveal while discussing sociopaths with Dr. Zach Bush.
The man Joe Rogan was referring to is the accused killer, ex-convict, and former criminal justice advocate Sheldon Johnson, who appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience in 2024.
“We had a guy in the studio that cut a guy’s head off after the podcast. He killed a guy and cut his head off,” Rogan told Bush.
Just weeks before allegedly carrying out the horrific murder in New York City, Johnson sat directly across from Rogan on the show along with civil rights attorney Josh Dubin, the executive director of the Perlmutter Center for Legal Justice.
“He does the podcast and then afterward goes and visits this guy that apparently he had a beef with, kills him, cuts his head off, puts him in a suitcase, like puts a wig on, and tries to escape in the hallway through the cameras,” Rogan added.
“I guess he doesn’t understand HD cameras ’cause they haven’t been around for 25 years. You know, he’s sitting right there, you know, couple weeks later cutting a guy’s head off.”
Police accused the Joe Rogan guest of an atrocious crime
Johnson allegedly shot a man named Colin Small to death, then sawed off his head, put it in a freezer in Small’s Bronx apartment, and stashed the remains in multiple locations, including his Harlem apartment.
When neighbors claimed to have heard gunshots and witnessed a stranger entering and leaving the apartment carrying cleaning supplies, they called police to the building for a wellness check.
After discovering Small’s limbs, legs, and head inside the apartment, police looked at the building’s security footage, which allegedly showed Johnson committing the crime.
Police later took Johnson into custody and accused him of criminal possession of a weapon, manslaughter, and murder.
Ironically, while being interviewed by Joe Rogan, Sheldon Johnson told the host, “I made the decision that I was going to walk away, and I didn’t care about what the consequences was. And I said to myself, ‘I’ve been doing bad for so long. I’m going to try to do something good.’”
