John Cena is being criticized for appearing to use the war in the Ukraine to promote his HBO Max superhero series Peacemaker.
On Thursday, Cena decided to take to Twitter and comment on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He probably shouldn’t have.
In his tweet, Cena boldly stated that if his character Peacemaker were, you know, real, he would head over to the war zone and try to straighten things out. Never mind the fact that his character murders people he believes disturb the peace, per se, the fact that he was basically promoting his show didn’t go over too well.
If I could somehow summon the powers of a real life #Peacemaker I think this would be a great time to do so.

That's not enough to stop it. Humans are naughty by nature
You may try to argue it but it's true

People are not happy with John Cena’s tweet about the war in the Ukraine
John Cena, meanwhile, seems unbothered by the whole controversy he started.
Love what you do, just make sure what you do isn’t all you love.

Perhaps he is too busy helping to plan the wedding between his co-star Jennifer Holland and director James Gunn that he offered to officiate.
“I think that it was my way of mixing what we have in the zeitgeist with a very personal moment,” Cena told People this week. “I care very deeply for both of them. Hell, they’re both tremendously in love with each other and I couldn’t be happier for people I care about to find genuine love, but in a greater scope, for anybody to find genuine love. I think it’s a great thing. I was just trying to be funny and it was genuine. I’m truly very happy for them and their relationship. They’re wonderful people and it’s really great when people have that in their life.”
Then again, maybe he was tied up trying to get fellow DC Comics superhero actor The Rock to make a cameo in season two of his show.
“I’ll say the same thing every time with possibilities in the sort of universe,” Cena said when asked about the possibility. “It would be an honor and a privilege to be able to perform with him. I think there still is a passionate marketplace that wants to see him in. But I’m sorry, man, that’s just not my choice so I don’t know. It’s so far beyond me. It’s beyond what I’m able to control.”
Regardless of what he has been doing since his tweet that stirred people up, John Cena is probably very much enjoying himself.
