Justin Timberlake’s legal team has filed a lawsuit in an effort to block the release of the footage from his DUI arrest in 2024. The pop star was arrested for DWI in Sag Harbor, New York, on June 18, 2024.
As a part of his plea deal, Justin Timberlake — who had his license suspended for 90 days — was ordered to perform 25 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine, in addition to issuing a public statement.
“This is a mistake that I made, but I’m hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. Even one drink — don’t get behind the wheel of the car,” Timberlake said after the sentencing.

Now, his lawyers have filed a motion in the Suffolk County Supreme Court to block the release of the footage from Timberlake’s arrest, saying it would damage his reputation.
“Public dissemination of this footage would cause severe and irreparable harm to [Timberlake’s] personal and professional reputation, subject [Timberlake] to public ridicule and harassment, and serve no legitimate public interest,” the filing from Timberlake’s lawyer said.
During his arrest, Timberlake said that it was going to “ruin the world tour,” which instantly became a meme. Timberlake’s glassy-eyed mugshot was also widely spread across social media.
Timberlake did still continue his global The Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which began in Vancouver in April 2024 and concluded in Istanbul in July 2025. At the time of his arrest, Timberlake was on a six-day break between shows in Miami and Chicago. Despite his first Chicago performance coming just three days his arrest, Timberlake did not cancel the show.
