Actor, Director, and Producer Kevin Smith is recovering today after suffering a ‘massive heart attack’ Sunday evening. The Mallrats and Clerks Director was set to perform two shows at the Alex Theater in Glendale yesterday (6 and 9pm) but after the first show, Kevin sensed something was wrong and took himself to the hospital.

In the early hours of Monday morning, Kevin Smith tweeted out a picture of him recovering from a 100% blockage of his LAD artery, aka ‘The Widow Maker’. He said “The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”

It was only like 6 hours ago that Kevin Smith tweeted out that picture of him recovering at the hospital. It’s pretty damn terrifying how quickly the world can change when you don’t eat right. And I say this as someone who, by all accounts, eats like shit. In fact, I had fried chicken for dinner the past two nights (I’m still breaking in my deep fryer!) So this has me a little shook.

The NYDN has reportedly reached out to a rep for Kevin Smith but hadn’t received comment.
