Killer Mike Escorted Out Of Arena In Handcuffs At The Grammys Hours After Winning 3 Awards (Video)

Rapper Killer Mike was taken out of the Grammy Awards handcuffed and in the custody of police mere hours after winning three awards at the ceremony.

At the Grammys on Sunday night, he won awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” and Best Rap Album for Michael.

Just hours later, however, the 48-year-old artist was being arrested at the ceremony.  Check out the video of Killer Mike being escorted out of the Crypto.com Arena below.

According to Grammys officials, the rapper was arrested on “a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena,” as per Chris Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter.

Likely he will be released once it’s sorted. “It’s a big nothing,” source says.

Not long after news of Killer Mike’s arrest was reported, the rapper actually took to Twitter to say “Thank God,” adding more confusion to the situation.

Killer Mike, real name Michael Render, is perhaps best known as one-half of the acclaimed rap duo Run The Jewels.

In addition to his work with Run The Jewels, Killer Mike has released six studio albums: Monster, I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind, I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II, Pledge, R.A.P. Music, and 2023’s Grammy-winning Michael.

As for Run The Jewels, the acclaimed duo was formed by him and rapper/producer EI-P (Jamie Meline) and released their self-titled debut studio album in 2013. Run The Jewels has released four albums so far in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2020.

At the time of this writing, neither Killer Mike nor someone from his team has released a statement regarding the situation at the Grammy Awards.
