Largest Cocaine Bust In Colombia’s History: 26,800 Pounds Of Cocaine Seized Near Border (PICS)

Colombia had made huge strides in recent years in cutting down on the growing, production, and manufacturing of cocaine. The South American country is still the worldwide leader in all things cocaine, but the army had done an excellent job of spraying crops in hard to reach places which drastically reduced the area of land in which cocaine farmers could operate. This all changed when the citizens voted to ban this practice because the chemicals being dumped were said to be harmful towards people.

Well, it looks like cocaine production’s on the rise again because Colombian forces just landed the single largest cocaine bust in Colombia’s history. 13.4 tons of cocaine. That’s 26,800 POUNDS of blow. It was seized across four farms near the Colombia-Panama border which is interesting because on the Panamanian side is the Darien Province, some of the densest jungle on the planet. It’s not exactly like there are roads running through that area which would enable someone to transport that many thousands of pounds of cocaine.

The largest stash of cocaine ever found in Colombia has an estimated value of $360 million (USD), and the footage of this bust is pretty insane, to say the least:

I wish I knew more about the total amount of cocaine on the planet right now because it would be interesting to know if this is enough cocaine to make a dent in the global market. 26,800 pounds of cocaine is absolutely insane. People often buy cocaine in grams. There are 453.592 grams in each pound. That’s 12,156,265.6 grams of cocaine that never made it to the global market, and that’s before this cocaine had a chance to be cut/diluted and sold at a lesser quality. So you can pretty much triple that amount to around 36 MILLION grams of (cut) cocaine that never hit the streets. That has to be enough to drive up global prices of cocaine and cause a shortage, right?
