With Superman: Legacy set to begin production next month, the cast has begun to do a customary table read of the script, and with that table read has come the reveal of an interesting detail about the film: the logo that Superman’s costume will feature.

Courtesy of some photos that were taken at the table read, via Isabela Merced’s Instagram Story, it’s been revealed that David Corenswet’s Clark Kent will be wearing the Superman ‘S’ that seen in the iconic 1990s comic book run titled Kingdom Come, which will mark the first time that this particular variant of the iconic Superman logo will be seen in a feature film.

Kingdom Come is a four-issue series that was first published in 1996 and featured an alternate version of Superman (although still the Clark Kent version of the character).

The story, written by Mark Wald and Alex Ross, is set in an alternate future of the DC Universe, and features the Justice League being called into action to take on a new generation of heroes that have become as “reckless and violent as the villains they fight.”

Now, while it’s possible that Superman: Legacy won’t take any inspiration from Kingdom Come and is simply trying to freshen things up with a logo that’s never been used in the movies before, the presence of characters such as Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, Guy Gardner (a Green Lantern), and Metamorpho suggests that the scope of the story will be a bit beyond that of a simple “Superman versus villain” tale.

Superman: Legacy, which is currently scheduled to be released in movie theaters on July 11, 2025, and will be directed by James Gunn. Serving as the first film in the new “DCU”, Superman: Legacy will star David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, , Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan and more.
