This is the classic love story of boy meets girl, boy asks girl on date, boy steals girl’s car so that he can go on a date with another girl who he truly has feelings for. Love is funny like that.

On Saturday, Kelton Griffin asked out Faith Pugh on a date and she said yes to the charming young man. The two knew each other from high school, but hadn’t really talked in recent years so the invitation for a date was out of the blue. Mr. Griffin was dropped off at Faith’s house and they were on the road to love or so Faith thought.

Kelton politely asked Faith to stop at the gas station in Memphis, Tennessee, so that he could get cigars and she happily obliged. Oddly, Kelton asked his date if she could get the cigars for him and she happily obliged. When she returned with said cigars Kelton was nowhere to be found. Either was her car. Maybe he was simply borrowing the car? Nope. Kelton blocked Faith on social media and wouldn’t return her calls.

Understandably upset, Pugh told her family that she just had her car stolen. Ironically, Faith’s godsister knew exactly where Kelton was — the drive-in movie theater — because she was with Kelton after he had asked her on a date. The godsister paid for them both to go to the theater just so Faith could have the chance to get her car back. Faith informed the police and they arrested Mr. Steal Your Car at the scene and charged him with theft of property. There are rumors that his third date of the night in jail was not as successful as the first two.

Look, stealing is absolutely wrong in every imaginable way in every possible situation and that poor girl was devastated when she had her trust obliterated after the criminal stole her ride. Now this individual will go to jail for his foolishness. But also:

To be honest, I wish someone loved me enough to commit grand larceny. For real though, don’t steal people’s cars or hearts and especially not their car and their heart. Especially if they know who you are and you’re taking their godsister on a date in their relative’s car you just stole.
