Hollywood legend Marlon Brando apparently “couldn’t stand” fellow cinema icon Clint Eastwood, according to Eddie Murphy.

Murphy, promoting the release of his new Beverly Hills Cop movie on Netflix, was speaking with the New York Times when he revealed that famed Oscar-winning actor Marlon Brando reached out to him after starring in 48 Hrs. because he wanted to meet.

The beloved comedic and Saturday Night Live alum says that he and Brando had dinner twice: once at a restaurant and once at Brando’s L.A. home.

When meeting with Brando for the dinner at his home, Murphy says that The Godfather star railed against the profession of acting and Clint Eastwood.

“We went to his house on Mulholland; I was just going on and on about The Godfather, and he was like, ‘Eh, The Godfather.‘ Not just The Godfather — acting. He was like, ‘Acting is bulls—, and everybody can act,'” Murphy claimed Brando said.

“This is how long ago it was: He was going, ‘I can’t stand that kid with the gun,’” Murphy added. “I was like, ‘What kid with the gun?’ He said, ‘He’s on the poster!’ I was like, ‘Clint Eastwood?” ‘Yeah, that guy!’ He was calling Clint Eastwood ‘that kid.’”

Brando calling Eastwood “that kid” is certainly comical considering that Brando, born in 1924, was just six years older than Eastwood, who — at the age of 94 years old — is set to release his final movie as a director, Juror No. 2, later this year. Juror No. 2 stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Zoey Deutch, Leslie Bibb, Chris Messina, J. K. Simmons, and Kiefer Sutherland.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 – Axel F, which will be released on Netflix on Wednesday, July 3, also sees Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot reprise their roles from the original trilogy alongside Murphy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, and Kevin Bacon have also joined the cast.
