The fallout from New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini being photographed at a couple’s retreat resort in Arizona looks set to continue into the weekend, as NFL fans are still trying to figure out how this all unfolded. One common theory that’s developed is that the pair were followed and photographed by a private investigator.
Earlier this week, a bomb was dropped on the NFL news cycle after Page Six published photos — which were reportedly shopped around to multiple outlets before landing with the New York Post — showing Pats HC Mike Vrabel and New York Times reporter Dianna Russini lounging by a pool, soaking in a hot tub, holding hands and hugging on a private rooftop. The initial reaction was naturally that they were spotted by nosy NFL fans, but further investigation has suggested that the blowing up of their spot was far more orchestrated.
The reason that NFL fans have begun to believe the photos of Russini and Vrabel were professional coordinator is that they were taken at the Ambiente Sedona, a high-end, private, “adult’s only” resort that local Arizonians say is “very isolated” and is marketed as a place for couple’s to connect.
The Ambiente charges $1,800 to $3,000 per night, and getting access to take those specific photos from inside the property would have required someone to pay for a room, which is not how paparazzi operate.

Whoever hired a PI to take photos of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini at the adults only resort in Sedona has very deep pockets. The PI would have had to pay these rates in order to have a *chance* at getting the controversial photos.

While there was already speculation that a PI took the photos of Vrabel and Russini at the Ambiente Sedona resort, an additional picture of the pair (we cannot embed the photo here to due to copyright) at a bar in Indianapolis around the time of this year’s NFL combine has only further fueled that belief.

My only take on the Vrabel-Russini thing is (after consulting with my girlfriend, who used to be a divorce lawyer) is I’d bet any amount of money that the pictures were captured by a PI not some random hotel guest or a paparazzi

NFL insider Albert Breer also subscribes to the theory that the photos were taken by a hired private eye.
“I do [think they were taken by a private investigator],” Breer said. “So here’s the thing, that’s two hours away. The Post story head detail from, it felt like, sunrise to sunset… do you really think some guest at that hotel who is there on a romantic getaway with their significant other is gonna sacrifice their entire day to taking iPhone pictures of them in different sports across the resort? Does that make any sense at all?”

As for who would have hired a PI, naturally, it’s been suggested that it was done by either Russini’s husband or Vrabel’s wife. It’s also been suggested that the alleged illicit relationship between the pair is not new but has been carrying on for years, dating back to when Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
