McKenna Grace is saying no to birthday suit scenes so she can play a Disney princess
20-year-old actress McKenna Grace, who has been acting professionally since she was a child, says that she refuses to take roles that require nudity or are overly sexualized because she dreams of one day playing a Disney princess.
Grace, best known for her roles in films such as Gifted, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and Scream 7, made the comments during a recent interview with Cosmopolitan while promoting her upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
McKenna Grace says she won’t do birthday suit scenes or hypersexual roles because she wants to play a Disney princess
During the interview, Grace was asked if there were any types of roles that she’d refuse to take, prompting the actress to explain the boundaries she’s set for herself as she transitions from a child star into an adult actress.
“At this point, I definitely don’t do nudity or very hypersexual things,” Grace told Cosmopolitan. “I respect anybody who can, but it’s terrifying to me. I don’t know if that’ll ever change.”
Grace also explained that her refusal to do revealing scenes doesn’t mean she’s exclusively interested in family-friendly projects.
“It’s not like I only do wholesome things — my character literally gets gutted by Ghostface in Scream — but my dream is to try and be a Disney princess someday.”
While Disney obviously does its best to maintain a squeaky-clean family image, doing a sex scene does not automatically disqualify actresses from landing a role in one of its movies. 2015’s Cinderella starred Lily James, who has since gone on to reveal all in her work. Similarly, Cruella starred Emma Stone, who has famously done plenty of risqué work in her career, including in The Favourite, which predated her starring role in Cruella.
Despite being just 20 years old, Grace has already accumulated an extensive filmography, having appeared in projects such as I, Tonya, Captain Marvel, The Handmaid’s Tale, Regretting You, Fuller House, The Haunting of Hill House, Ready Player One, Nimrods, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, and more.
Grace will next be seen playing Maysilee Donner in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 20. The actress is also attached to play Daphne Blake in Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series, which will premiere next year.
