Metallica has been lighting up The Sphere in Las Vegas during their band’s Life Burns Faster residency. They are doing 24 shows at The Sphere from October through March and Metallica has steadily been uploading highlights from Las Vegas to their YouTube channel.

Most recently, Metallica uploaded performances of ‘Sad But True’ and ‘Battery’ from their show at The Sphere on October 15th and Metal fans cannot get enough of these clips.

Metallica Blows Away Heavy Metal Fans With Clips From The Sphere In Las Vegas

What started as just an 8-show residency quickly blew up into a 24-show run at The Sphere. That seems to be par for the course in Las Vegas where bands announce an initial run of shows and then add a slew of dates once the initial block sells out fast.

With 17K fans each night, Metallica is welcoming around 408,000 metal fans to The Sphere over the course of their residency which is a massive number, but a number that still pales in comparison to their infamous performance at the Monsters of Rock festival on September 28, 1991 in Russia at the Tushino Airfield in Moscow where an estimated 1.5 million fans showed up to see them. And to keep things fresh, Metallica has been doing No Repeat Weekends at The Sphere, perhaps taking direction from Phish, where the Thursday and Saturday set lists are completely different.

In the latest batch of clips, Metallica shared this performance of ‘Battery’ which has 350K views in 24 hours:

After that video went big with Metallica fans they followed it up with a clip of ‘Sad But True’ which was uploaded earlier today and a better performance overall (IMHO). It is interesting how Metallica seems to be using The Sphere to shine a spotlight on the band more than other musical acts who have had residencies in Las Vegas.

All About The Music

Many bands use the futuristic arena to blow minds with animation and visuals but Metallica is going music-forward with their performance and you have to respect that. Here is ‘Sad But True’ from October 15th:

Metallica’s ‘Fade to Black’ has been arguably their most popular video from The Sphere so far since they started uploading clips to the band’s YouTube channel. Their performance of that iconic song can be seen here on YouTube, filmed during their October 8th concert in Las Vegas.
