Actress Millie Bobby Brown has defended her husband Jake Bongiovi against criticism that he was pictured not carrying any of the couple’s bags or baby gear, and not packing a suitcase before trips. Bongiovi had been mocked online in recent years for this narrative.
Last year, photos of Millie Bobby Brown carrying all of the bags and equipment for the pair’s adopted baby went viral. The narrative around Jake Bongiovi being spoiled was only compounded by her recent anecdotes detailing how he does not pack a suitcase when they go on vacation and instead buys clothes in whatever city they’re visiting.

The former Stranger Things star attempted to diffuse the narrative during a recent appearance on Kylie Kelce’s podcast.
“Hi, I’m Millie Bobby Brown and I’m not gonna lie, when did women become incapable of holding their own bags, car seats and stuff?” the actress said on a recent episode of Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast.
“This stems from me holding all of my suitcases and bags and my kid and people are like, ‘Your husband doesn’t hold a single thing.’ Because I’m three miles ahead. I have been planning this all night. We’re all about empowering girls and, ‘You got it’ and ‘You don’t need a man.’ But then when I’m like, ‘OK, I can carry my own things,’ people are like, ‘Where’s your husband?’” she continued.
“I can also do it on my own. Nobody knows my husband. My husband is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I’m capable.”

Unfortunately for Brown, it’s going to take a lot more than that to change the public perception of her husband, as the culture generally has a particular antipathy for nepo babies these days, especially one that don’t particularly display any particular talents — unlike, let’s say (and this is literally the first example that came to my mind), Cooper Hoffman, who’s a legitimately capable actor in his own right.
The other thing is that the photos of him not carrying the bags went insanely viral, and Bongiovi doesn’t appear to do much else to make people forget about it.
