People Are Raving About ‘Money Heist’ On Netflix, Comparing It To ‘Prison Break’ And ‘Narcos’

Last week we discovered a hidden gem on Netflix, which they surprise added with no forewarning in the horror film Verónica. The movie was scaring the daylights out of viewers and as a result, was being added to everyone’s must-watch list. Now we’ve got something else for you to add to your Netflix watch list that you may not have been aware of before.

The reason you may not know about this crime drama series called Money Heist (La casa de papel) is because, just like with Verónica it is performed in a foreign language requiring you to read subtitles. However, as you can see from the review of Verónica below by comedian Josh Pray, it somehow makes it even better.

Here’s the basic plot to Money Heist…

A mysterious man, who goes by the name of El Profesor (“The Professor”), is planning the biggest heist ever to occur. In order to carry out the ambitious plan, he recruits a gang of eight people with certain abilities who have nothing to lose. The goal is to enter the Royal Mint of Spain and print 2.4 billion euros. In order to do this, they need eleven days of seclusion, during which they will have to deal with sixty-seven hostages and the elite forces of the police.

So you can already see why some people are comparing it in concept to Prison Break, right?

Right now only the first season is available on Netflix, but after the buzz the show has generated it’s only a matter of time before they snag season two as well.
