Despite not premiering for another 12 days (at the time of this writing), the first reactions to the upcoming Marvel Studios series Moon Knight have hit the internet. And in my experience, the earlier a reaction embargo for a project lifts, the better.

Having seen the first four (of six) episodes, journalistic and critics have been largely positive thus far, praising the series’ relatively different — at least in relation to the MCU — tone. While Moon Knight is still ultimately a Marvel series and made to be enjoyed by all ages, it does appear to be darker than the typical MCU outing.

If nothing else, Moon Knight is set to be a first for the MCU as it’s the first Disney+ to introduce a new hero into the fold.

Moon Knight will be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe series to hit Disney+ in 2022, following a 2021 that saw five original MCU series hit the streaming service. As mentioned above, June will see the premiere of Ms. Marvel, while She-Hulk — which is rumored to feature appearances from Charlie Cox’s Daredevil — is also scheduled to release in 2022.

The MCU’s 2022 Disney+ slate doesn’t end there, as the second season of What If…?, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and the Samuel L. Jackson-starring Secret Invasion are also expected to drop this year. As for the film side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is next up, as it hits theaters on May 5. That’ll be followed by Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11.

In addition to Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, Moon Knight stars May Calamawy in an undisclosed role. The series will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 30.
