Morgan Wallen played a sold-out concert at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay on Thursday. He cancelled his show on Friday just minutes before the doors were set to open.

At least it was kind of better than last time?

Wallen was supposed to play two nights at Ole Miss in April of 2023. The first night was not an issue. The second night did not go as planned. It was cancelled after all of the openers had performed and everybody was already in their seats.

Wallen never took the stage and fans all over the world immediately melted down. Some of them even vowed to never listen to his music again while sobbing.

Even though tickets were refunded at the point of sale, he still received an egregious lawsuit for damages beyond the price of tickets— like travel, lodging, food and drink. Wallen was canceled for about 48 hours.

The international country music superstar ultimately, apologized, cited vocal cord issues and later canceled more than a month of his tour for vocal rest. People got over it. He ultimately returned to Oxford almost a year later and tried to get Lane Kiffin to wear a UT jersey.

That did not happen, much like the second night of Wallen’s two-night run at Raymond James.

Morgan Wallen is ill.

Friday’s show is postponed to October. As are his shows in Charlotte next week.

I hate to reschedule shows but I powered through being sick in Tampa last night, and unfortunately woke up feeling way worse today. I would not give you guys anywhere near 100% tonight and as a result, I need to move tonight’s Tampa show to Oct. 4 and next week’s Charlotte shows to Oct. 18 and 19.

Fans are furious, mostly with the timing. Doors opened at 4:30pm ET. Jelly Roll, Nate Smith, and Bryan Martin were supposed to open starting at 5:30pm. Wallen called it off at 3:43.

“Thanks for the last minute notice!! I just threw a chair at the local bar…WTF!!” — @TheSportsAddic

“Bro canceled shows more than fast food workers call out of work. 😂” — @dmarcoveli

“Have some respect do it by noon if you’re truly sick. Way to wait till almost the start on a Friday in traffic to cancel. Amateur hour!” — @philipjunda

“You woke up at 2:45 in the afternoon? Sounds like a wicked hangover. Being a mediocre country singer sounds awesome. Well done dude. You screwed your fans again. 👏🏼” — @Gambling400

“can’t believe this. so disappointed that you waited this long to cancel the show. when people are already at the stadium. do better morgan” — @sofiasanttana

To be fair to Wallen, he definitely sounded sick in multiple videos from Thursday night. Many of his fans were forgiving toward his illness. The timing of the cancellation is the larger issue here.

Fortunately, Jelly Roll is stepping up!

Shoutout to Jason Bradley DeFord. That is a true man of the people!

Jelly Roll continues to be one of the coolest dudes in music. Nashville loves him. America loves him.

Morgan Wallen, on the other hand, is back in the news for all of the wrong reasons. You can’t help being sick but you can cancel your concert long before people get to the venue!
