Lane Kiffin Refused To Wear Peyton Manning Jersey For Tunnel Walk At Morgan Wallen Concert

Lane Kiffin was part of Morgan Wallen’s entourage in Oxford, Mississippi on Saturday night. The 48-year-old head football coach at Ole Miss refused to wear a jersey from his past life.

It was the right move.

Kiffin spent one year in Knoxville as the head coach at Tennessee in 2009. Although Volunteers fans are not his biggest fan by nature of the way he bolted for his dream job in Los Angeles, there is no bad blood between the former coach and his former school. Heck, his son is named ‘Knox!’

Wallen is from East Tennessee. The 30-year-old country music superstar grew up in Sneedville, a small town of about 1,200 located about 70 miles northeast of Knoxville, and cheers for his home state school. He is a proud member of Big Orange Nation.

Although Kiffin and Wallen are on opposite sides of the Southeastern Conference, they have become fast friends over the last few years. As a result, the former joined the latter for the legendary tunnel walk at his most recent show on the One Night At A Time Tour.

Wallen was supposed to play a concert at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium (the home of Rebels football) last spring but vocal trouble prevented him from doing so and he later canceled a few dates his tour as a result. Ole Miss still made a ton of money from the weekend and both parties vowed to schedule a makeup show.

The long-awaited return took place on Saturday!

Kiffin joined Wallen while he walked out from backstage like a boxer before a title fight. Vibes were high. As it would turn out, Wallen asked Kiffin to wear a Peyton Manning jersey for their walk. It was a hard no!

No matter how many other jobs come open in the next few years, Kiffin is in Oxford to stay. He was not going to be caught dead in Tennessee Orange (or a non-Eli/Archie Manning jersey) at his home field! Especially after everything that went down between the two schools in Knoxville in 2021…
