Netflix has released the first trailer for Mr. McMahon, the streaming service’s upcoming docuseries about the rise and fall of WWE founder Vince McMahon.

With over 200 hours of interviews conducted during the four-year-long production, Mr. McMahon promises to offer a “deep dive” into Vince McMahon’s controversial life, beginning with the launch of the WWE and ending with his resignation due to sexual misconduct allegations.

You can find the official synopsis and trailer for Mr. McMahon below.

“Mr. McMahon chronicles the rise and fall of Vince McMahon, controversial businessman and co-founder of WWE. From his transformation of the WWE from a small, regional business into a global entertainment powerhouse to the explosive sexual misconduct allegations that led to his eventual resignation, this six-episode series offers a deep dive into McMahon’s life and his enduring franchise,” says Netflix.

“Culled from over 200 hours of interviews with McMahon himself (prior to his resignation), his family members, business associates and some of the most iconic names in wrestling history, as well as the journalists who uncovered McMahon’s allegations — filmmaker Chris Smith presents an unflinching, no-holds-barred look at one of the most enigmatic figures in sports entertainment.”

McMahon, 79 years old, bought the World Wide Wrestling Federation from his father in 1982 and turned it into the world’s most successful wrestling promotion over the subsequent decades, absorbing competitors such as the WCW and ECW to virtually monopolize the industry in the United States.

The WWE saw its heyday in the late 90s and early 2000s when it was known as the WWF thanks to the Attitude Era and stalwart stars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Brett Hart, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Kane, Big Show, and more.

“The goal behind Mr. McMahon was to pull back the curtain and reveal the true Vince McMahon, obscured beneath the persona he presented to the world,” director Chris Smith, the filmmaker behind Tiger King, said in a statement announcing the project.

“Over the four years of production, the story evolved in truly shocking ways, culminating in some extremely harrowing allegations. The final product is a revealing documentary that we believe offers a rich and nuanced portrait of the man and the complex legacy he left behind.”

Earlier this year, Netflix signed a historic 10-year, $5 billion contract to become the exclusive home of the WWE’s flagship program Monday Night Raw, which will begin streaming on the platform in January 2025.

Mr. McMahon, which was produced by Smith alongside Bill Simmons, will hit Netflix on Wednesday, September 25.
