Want a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, but can’t afford the minimum $150,000 price tag? There may be another option out there for you.
While you might have a standard image of what a golf cart looks like, custom golf carts are actually more common than you might expect. If you think about it, it makes sense. There are countless communities where navigating by golf cart is the norm. And if you live in one of those places, it’s no surprise that you might feel tempted to make a statement by tricking out your ride.
We’ve seen some pretty incredible customizations over the years, from upscale Mercedes-Benz-inspired carts to golf carts that bear a striking resemblance to the DeLorean from “Back to the Future.” However, this cart recently posted by TikTok user Alan Jones (@alanjones5) might just take the cake.
What’s So Special About This Golf Cart?
In a video with over 602,000 views, Jones shows off a golf cart that is sure to turn heads both on and off the greens.
Why? Because the cart looks like a miniature Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
Painted neon green, the cart is definitely a statement. And when one looks inside, things get a little more interesting.
A second video detailing the interior of the cart shows that it has leather seats and trim, a full sound system with booming bass, and an infotainment screen that makes it look and feel like a real car.
In the comments, Jones says that the cart can go 45 miles per hour and costs between $20,000 and $35,000, depending on customization options. It is not officially affiliated with Mercedes-Benz or the G-Wagon.
Can You Really Drive This Thing?
Seeing this, some may see the cart as a reasonable alternative to an actual car. It hits decent speeds and has air conditioning and a sound system. What more does one need?
However, before you get too hyped about this, you should know that there are many laws surrounding golf carts that may make actually using one of these things difficult.
For example, in the state of Florida (where the TikToker is based), driving a golf cart does not require a license. However, as this cart goes above the state’s maximum speed of 20 mph for golf carts, it would require a license, registration, and numerous safety features. Given this—and various limitations that states have on where golf carts can be driven—it’s unclear where one could actually use such a vehicle outside of a private golf course.
Jones told BroBible that this particular vehicle was being used in a Netflix series.
Commenters Want One
In the comments section, many users were excited to potentially try the vehicle for themselves.
“I would drive this as an everyday car,” wrote a user.
“That is a perfect car for my 4’9 self! I’d be zooming on the road!” added another.
“Only one i will ever afford,” declared a third.
