The stunning official trailer for Ridley Scott’s upcoming film Napoleon has been released by Sony Pictures.

Napoleon stars Academy Award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix as the infamous French military leader alongside Oscar nominee Vanessa Kirby as Joséphine Bonaparte.

Here is the official synopsis for Napoleon, via Sony Pictures:

Napoleon is a spectacle-filled action epic that details the checkered rise and fall of the iconic French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, played by Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix.

Against a stunning backdrop of large-scale filmmaking orchestrated by legendary director Ridley Scott, the film captures Bonaparte’s relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine, showcasing his visionary military and political tactics against some of the most dynamic practical battle sequences ever filmed.

The film marks the first time that Scott and Phoenix have worked together since the latter starred in Gladiator over 20 years ago.

Napoleon will be hitting movie theaters in the United States on Wednesday, November 22 before eventually streaming on AppleTV+.

In addition to the starring duo of Phoenix and Kirby, Napoleon boasts an ensemble cast that features the likes of Tahar Rahim, Ben Miles, Ludivine Sagnier, Matthew Needham, Youssef Kerkour, Phil Cornwell, Paul Rhys, and more.

Following the release of Napoleon and if the studios ever decide to stop being so greedy and bring the actors’ strike to an end, Scott will continue production on Gladiator 2, which stars Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Djimon Hounsou, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, May Calamawy, Derek Jacobi, and more.
