A man attempted to smuggle 87 pounds of marijuana from San Francisco to Nashville. Nashville, huh? Almost made it.

Jullian Gioffre, 26, took a flight from the pot-friendly San Francisco to Nashville International Airport (BNA) on Monday. Gioffre was able to get his luggage, stuffed with 87 pounds of weed, through security at SFO. However, things didn’t go as smoothly when he landed in Tennessee.

A drug-sniffing dog named “Havoc” got a whiff of the weed, as reported by Fox News. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers opened the bags and found two bales of cannabis. SFist estimates that the 87 pounds of marijuana was worth $278,400.

After seeing Gioffre’s name on the luggage, they searched for any other baggage he was transporting. They found a backpack with his name on it, and inside, police found 34 grams of THC gummies in Gioffre’s backpack, estimated to be worth nearly $7,000.

Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of Nashville International Airport, tweeted a photo of the plastic-wrapped cannabis with the caption: “In addition to FREE masks to fight COVID-19 we also have FREE rides to Metro booking when K-9 Havoc smells you landing at BNA. Come on man, pack your music, your guitar and your songs when flying into @Fly_Nashville. Next time leave your two bales behind in San Francisco.”

Gioffre was arrested and booked on a felony drug charge. His bail was set at $75,000. He was taken to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department jail.

This drug bust came only days after law enforcement at the Nashville International Airport arrested a 20-year-old woman who tried to smuggle in 85 pounds of weed in her suitcases. On September 23, Tomisha Hamm was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. And just like Gioffre, Hamm was busted after a drug-sniffing K-9 smelled the pot. She was flying to Nashville from Los Angeles.

How much is weed going for in Nashville that people are smuggling over 80 lbs of marijuana in their luggage?
