Woman Takes A Bite Of Nature Valley Granola Bar—And Finds A Bird Feather Inside: ‘Too Much Nature In The Bar’

Have you ever taken a bite of something and realized, “That’s not supposed to be there”?

If you have, you probably know how gross and uncomfortable the experience can be. Over the years, many internet users have shared stories about finding disgusting things in their food. For example, one man bit into his KFC chicken wing and found a lung, while another discovered a worm in her Taco Bell meal.

Sometimes, these errors are understandable, even if they are pretty unsettling. Occasionally, however, an item will be so messed up that one wonders how such an error even occurred.

For example, how did a feather end up in this Nature Valley granola bar?

What Did This Woman Find In Her Nature Valley Granola Bar?

In a video with over 1.6 million views, TikTok user Mimzy (@thelastm1mzy) shows a Nature Valley Oats ‘N Honey bar.

“@GeneralMills you guys are f—— disgusting and ik your s— infested af,” she writes in the text overlaying the video.

Holding up the bar, one can see that it has broken apart. Inside the bar is a grey feather.

“Yes that’s a feather in my granola bar,” Mimzy writes in the caption. “I’m so thankful nature valley bars are always broken I don’t think I would’ve survived if I bit into that.”

“@General Mills I’m #pissed,” she concludes.

Has This Happened Before?

BroBible could find no confirmed reports of other people finding feathers in their Nature Valley granola bars, nor could the publication locate reports of feathers in any other granola bar brand.

According to the FDA, a bird feather would be labeled as “Filth and Extraneous Material.” Needless to say, it is not supposed to be, or allowed to be, present in a granola bar.

As such, incidents like these should be reported as soon as possible to ensure that they are not indicative of a bigger problem. To do this, one should save the bar and document all of the relevant information about it, such as its batch number and UPC.

From there, this incident can be escalated to both relevant agencies and the company responsible. The FDA and HHS have guides on how one can report issues with food, and companies like General Mills have forms in which product problems can be registered for investigation.

Can She Sue?

In the comments section, some users suggested that Mimzy pursue a lawsuit.

However, such a lawsuit is unlikely to be successful. Generally speaking, the affected person would have to present evidence of damages before pursuing a lawsuit. These damages could include illness following consumption of the foreign object, choking on the foreign object, or other financial harm that came as a result of the incident.

Simply being visually exposed to a feather in one’s granola bar—as gross as it may be—is likely not enough for a judge and jury to award a customer damages.

Commenters Are Disgusted

In the comments section, users voiced their disgust at what Mimzy experienced.

“A little too much nature in that one,” joked a user.

“I’m never eating these again,” offered another. “Oh my god i eat these like everyday.”

“Never before in my life have I found something in packaged foods. in the past year I’ve found something in 3 different items I purchased,” alleged a third.
