A Melbourne flight attendant expressed her annoyance with Coca Cola's new Coke Zero redesign by sharing how identical the cans are.

On July 20, the Coca-Cola Company rolled out new revamped designs internationally. Perhaps the most significant change was the Coke Zero. Instead of the red with a black logo appearance that Coke Zero drinkers know and loved, the makeover appears very similar to its classic counterpart. One Australian flight attendant says the redesign ishaving an unintended side effect—it’s making her job more difficult.

Melbourne flight attendant Ava (@avamorello) airs out her specific complaint in a viral TikTok.

Her clip features two Coca-Cola cans that appear nearly identical, with the same “Coca-Cola” logo. At first glance, they can almost easily be mistaken for the same product. However, the one on the right has a black design that reads “new look.” When she rotates it, there is the “Zero Sugar” marking and black ribbon design, indicating it’s a Coke Zero.

Since the change, the content creator says she has mixed up the regular and zero-sugar versions countless times. “Lost count of how many wrong Cokes l’ve handed out this week,” she shared in the caption.

‘Switching To Pepsi Cause of This’

Accidentally receiving the incorrect soda may be minor for most. However, it can be dangerous for those with allergies and medical conditions. Ava’s video amassed over 850,000 views, with viewers sharing their reasons why they believe the makeover to be problematic.

“I’m allergic to an ingredient in coke zero but can have regular coke. Why would they think this is a good idea?!” one viewer commented.

“I RELY on that black lettering for zero cuz I’m diabetic. Why on earth would they do that? Good thing I always double check anyway,” another stated.

As a result, a third vowed, “Legit switching to Pepsi cause of this.”

Meanwhile, Ava wasn’t the only one to accidentally make this mistake.

“I already made that mistake… like wdym???” one said.

“I need someone at Coke HQ to make Coke Zero a black can with red writing bc I can’t tell yall how many times in a rush I’ve accidentally grabbed Coke Zero and didn’t mean to,” a second revealed.

Why Did Coke Zero Get A Makeover?

Why the new makeover? According to the press release, this was done in the name of consistency.

“With one seamless visual identity, we can deliver one recognizable brand experience to consumers,” the press release reads.

In addition, caffeine-free drinks are getting a golden logo, and flavored fruit beverages will also have their own distinct image designs, per AllRecipes. So far, these new designs can be found in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
