Netflix
As if there wasn’t already enough shows and movies on our binge-watch list when it comes to Netflix, here comes another new series called You that’s going to be some definite must-see TV.
A psychological thriller based on the Caroline Kepnes novel of the same name, starring Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, Shay Mitchell, Zach Cherry, Luca Padovan, and John Stamos, it has four very good things going for it.
One, the reviews of the novel include words like unsettling, deeply dark, mesmerizing, disturbing, unrelenting, compelling, ominous, and none other than Stephen King himself called it, “Hypnotic and scary…never read anything quite like it.”
Two, check out the description of the upcoming series…
YOU, a Netflix Original Series, is the riveting and hypnotic story of Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), an obsessive yet brilliant New Yorker, who exploits today’s technology to win the heart of Beck (Elizabeth Lail) amid the growing suspicions of her best friend Peach (Shay Mitchell). Joe transforms himself from stalker to boyfriend while doing whatever it takes to eliminate all obstacles standing in his way — even if it means murder. Set in today’s 24/7 hyper-connected world, YOU explores how vulnerable we all are to stalking and manipulation online and in real life.
Three, the show is written by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow) and Sera Gamble (Supernatural, The Magicians). Berlanti is also the producer on Riverdale, Black Lightning, Blindspot, Deception and the upcoming Titans and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
And four, this trailer…
According to Deadline…
Netflix has licensed first-run international SVOD rights to the 10-episode series outside of the U.S. (excluding China), with second-run window in the U.S., Turkey and Turkish-speaking Cyprus. You, starring Penn Badgley and Elizabeth Lail, is set to premiere Sept. 9 on Lifetime, and will air as a Netflix original outside of the U.S.
