Nikki Glaser — who stole the show at Netflix’s previous The Roast of Tom Brady and then parlayed that success into hosting two consecutive Golden Globes — says she’s “so happy” she turned down appearing at Kevin Hart’s roast. Glaser also discussed the divisive racist jokes that were made during the event.

In the aftermath of Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart, the biggest talking point has been a joke that Tony Hinchcliffe made about George Floyd being in hell. Hart has since defended Hinchcliffe’s set while also shirking any responsibility for the situation.

According to Glaser, scheduling conflicts prevented her from being at Hart’s roast and she’s “so happy” it played out that way because of the racist content that was performed.

Comedian Nikki Glaser says she’s “so happy” she skipped Kevin Hart’s roast and that some of the racist jokes made during the show “didn’t even make sense”

“I was so happy that I didn’t do it. I was invited to do it. Kevin asked me personally, and I was like, ‘I can’t, I’m filming something,'” Glaser told ET.

“And then I watched it and I was like, ‘Thank God I didn’t do it.’ Because some of those jokes… like, some of them didn’t even make sense. Like, some of the racist ones I was like, ‘What… what are we even saying here?’ Like, it was just like… it was crazy. But um… yeah. I was happy to just watch,” she continued.

“Ironically, racist jokes — the problem is not that it’s racist. It’s like sometimes you’ve got to find a way, if you really want to do a joke, you’ve got to find a way to make it make sense. You can’t just like say it, and it’s out of nowhere.”

The joke generating the most backlash is Hinchcliffe’s George Floyd line, in which he told Hart, “The Black community is so proud of you… right now George Floyd is looking up at us all laughing so hard he can’t breathe,” implying that murdered North Carolina native is in hell.
