Focus Features is launching a massive Oscars campaign for 'Obsession'
Focus Features is going all-in on Obsession during awards season as reports indicate the studio is preparing a sweeping campaign for the film. Headlining that push will be a Best Actress campaign for lead actress Inde Navarrette.
According to reports, Focus Features — the studio that distributed the $500M+ grossing hit Obsession — is mounting a major awards campaign for the film across 15 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director for Curry Barker, Best Actress for Inde Navarrette, and Best Actor for Michael Johnson.
Other categories that Focus Features plans to campaign Obsession in are Best Supporting Actor for Cooper Tomlinson, Best Supporting Actress for Megan Lawless, Original Screenplay, Film Editing, Cinematography, Original Score, Casting, Sound, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Production Design.

Obsession grossed over $500 million worldwide against a $750,000 budget, making it one of the most extraordinary box office returns in Hollywood history.
At 25-years-old, Navarrette — who has already won Best Performance at the Seattle International Film Festival for the role — would be among the youngest Best Actress nominees in recent memory if the campaign succeeds.

Alongside Navarrette, the distributor plans to campaign Barker as a rare triple threat in best director, original screenplay and film editing, the same three categories Sean Baker swept for his best picture winner Anora (which he also took alongside one more as producer). She certainly didn’t take long to cash in on her Obsession momentum as she was announced to be playing Rogue in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men film, which is scheduled to release in 2028.
As for Barker, his follow-up to Obsession, Anything but Ghosts, was filmed earlier this year and stars Aaron Paul, Bryce Dallas Howard, Violet McGraw, Cooper Tomlinson (who featured in Obsession as Ian), and Barker.
