Most people have at least one fairly mortifying moment in their life that has a tendency to pop back into their brain and keep them up at night. One man in Australia was recently treated to a memory in that vein, as it’s hard to imagine he’ll ever forget the time he was beaten up by a young student who harnessed their knowledge of MMA to diffuse a confrontation.
It is very hard to imagine anyone would willingly relive their middle or high school years if given the opportunity. The stage of life tends to be defined by hormone-fueled awkwardness and attempts to overcome it by asserting superiority over your peers with the unique brand of cruelty kids that age are capable of harnessing.
It’s hard to envy any kid who’s targeted by a bully, and the same can be said for parents who have to deal with the fallout. It can be tempting to take matters into your own hands when your child is being tormented by another student, but most adults know to go through the proper channels and rely on school administrators to sort the problem out.
However, one man in Australia declined to follow the recommended protocol, and his decision to try to settle the score himself ended up being a very regrettable one.
A middle schooler with MMA training beat up a parent who targeted the wrong kid while trying to deal with his daughter’s bully
According to The Herald Sun, the father of a girl who attends Wollert Secondary College in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia was recently informed she was being bullied and made the ill-advised decision to show up to confront the student she said was responsible.
What was already a poorly hatched plan quickly fell apart when he arrived near the grounds of the school (which currently serves students between the American equivalent of seventh grade and the sophomore year of high school) on the afternoon of Monday, August 24th.
The outlet reports the unidentified parent started exchanging words with a group of seventh-grade boys and threatened to “slash the throat” of one student, who reportedly had no involvement in the bullying that sparked his visit (and anger).
That did not sit well with an “older student” of an unspecified grade with some MMA training under his belt, who decided to step in and “bashed the parent in front of horrified onlookers.”
Police were called to the scene, but it does not appear that any charges have been filed. Another parent says the school has since hired security guards to prevent similar incidents from unfolding, but it’s hard to imagine the guy who got beat up by a kid is in a rush to show his face there again.
