- Marvel Studios unveiled a new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness during the Super Bowl.
- One of the big moments of the trailer seemingly featured the voice of Sir Patrick Stewart.
- Stewart famously played Professor X in the X-Men franchise for close to two decades.
If you’re a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, one of the biggest moments of Super Bowl Sunday didn’t take place during the game at all as Marvel Studios dropped a new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, their first film of 2022.
While the trailer was jam-packed with mind-blowing teases, there’s no doubt that the highlight was the brief tease of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, whose iconic voice popped up for the briefest of moments.
During a recent interview, Stewart addressed the speculation in typically cheeky fashion:
“You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago,” Stewart told Comic Book. “So, I can’t be held responsible for that.”
It seems relatively certain that Stewart will appear as Professor X, although odds are that it’s a variant of the character and not the *exact* one we were familiar with from Fox’s X-Men franchise, as that version of the character undoubtedly died during the events of 2017’s Logan.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was directed by Spider-Man filmmaker Sam Raimi and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, Patrick Stewart — and likely many others — is set to hit theaters in the United States on Friday, May 6.
