Philip Pittenger, who better known as Phily P, is a farmer in California who specializes in rodent and pest control. He uses a device called the ‘Rodinator‘ to blast the burrows.

The squirrels and prairie dogs never see it coming!

Not only is this farming practice efficient, it looks like a lot of fun. There is a reason it goes viral.

Who is Philip Pittenger?

Pittenger is an American, a husband, a man of faith and a farmer. As far as I can tell, he grew up in Northern California near Chico. I don’t know exactly where he lives today but it is somewhere out west in the Golden State. The 20-something-year-old built his brand around his crazy antics on the farm. More specifically, an almond farm.

Philip Pittenger is known for his videos on social media that provide an inside look at a day in his life. He has more than 450,000 followers on TikTok, and more than 300,000 followers on Instagram. His most viewed video reached more than 19 million.

Most of Pittenger’s content is based around his Chevy Silverado, his tractors, and/or his work.

He also loves to hunt and fish. Especially when his wife gets out on the water with him.

People often forget that you don’t have to be from the South to be country. Pittenger is a perfect example.

However, his best videos are related to his pest control. He loves to blow s— up with his Rodinator.

What is the Rodinator?

Most simply put, the Rodinator is like a gun that triggers an explosion. It is in the same family as a flamethrower.

The goal of the Rodinator is to collapse the burrows of rats, rabbits, moles and other pests that dig beneath the ground.

As far as I understand it, the machine injects a controlled mix of propane and oxygen into the burrows and tunnels. A built-in ignition system triggers a spark, which hits the built-up propane and causes an explosion. The explosion destroys the burrow.

Of course, there can be a few casualties if the rodent has not yet vacated the premises before the detonation.

Philip Pittenger makes it seem so casual. 3… 2… 1… BANG!

The rodinator does a good job of exploding and burying the gophers but we will not give up till we find one! #rodinator #gophers #farmerphil #orchard #almonds

Sometimes the squirrels get away. Pittenger always stays strapped with a backup plan.

Otherwise, they get blown to smithereens.

Pettinger most recently celebrated the 250th birthday of America by blowing things up while dressed like George Washington.

It doesn’t get more American than that right there.

I don’t know whether the Rodinator is something that is available for purchase or if this is a custom rig but it seems to be effective. Just stick it in the hole, let the burrow fill with propane and BOOM! Problem solved.
