TikTok user Bee Mackatina (@beemackatinaa) has gone viral after sharing how she ended up eating raw chicken from Chili's.
The Triple Dipper is a much sought-after meal at Chili’s. However, for one customer, the food failed to meet her expectations.
Bee Mackatina’s (@beemackatinaa) video begins with her eating Chili’s chicken before taking it out of her mouth and saying, “I don’t think it’s cooked.”
The footage then changes to her and her daughter saying that they’re at Chili’s, where they are joined by the rest of their family.
Mackatina, who posts a lot of food content on her TikTok, then shared some of the food they ordered, including chips and salsa as an appetizer, Cajun chicken pasta, and a Triple Dipper with Nashville Hot mozzarella sticks. As she ate the honey chipotle, on-screen text read, “These are really good but then I realized it wasn’t cooked.”
Mackatina then hesitates, looks at the chicken, and takes the food out of her mouth. Then, as in the original clip, she says, “I don’t think it’s cooked.”
She then zooms in on the chicken, which, while white, is glistening, a little too moist, and, as Mackatina adds via on-screen text, “was slimy and raw still.”
“The freaking chicken was raw, you guys,” she says, still focusing the camera on the chicken. “Do you see how it’s still slimy? Oh god, I ate that you guys. I feel sick.”
Still, the experience wasn’t enough to stop her kids from having a cookie dough dessert. In total, they paid $68.29 for the meal.
‘This Is Why I Break Them In Half’
Unsurprisingly, most commenters were horrified.
“Ooooh, I hope they discounted something for you,” one wrote. “That’s so rough biting into raw chicken.”
“They need better cookers ngl,” a second said.
“This is what happened to me girly, I got food poisoning from the tenders as well and never went back to a Chili’s again,” a third shared.
“I hate when that happens to me,” a fourth declared. “Kills the whole f—— mood when they don’t cook that s— right.”
While a fifth shared, “This why I break them in half to check first everywhere I go.”
Meanwhile, a sixth user has a different approach.
“Unfortunately this is risks we take with eating out,” they opined. “Not saying its acceptable, but luckily this isn’t a representation on this particular store unless this is a reoccurring thing.”
Has This Happened Before?
Chili’s has gone viral on TikTok before under similar circumstances. In a video that has garnered over a million views, TikTok user Agu (@sivartdaehetihw), while at a Chili’s inside the Miami airport, asked the camera, “Brother, how am I supposed to eat this?”
The camera then cut to his chicken tender, which, on the inside, was completely pink.
Over on Reddit, it appears that Chili’s chicken quality has been an issue since the pandemic. In a post from five years ago, a user complained, “Around 2014 they changed the fajitas to include this chipotle butter that I find disgusting so I order it without. However, the chicken that comes out is flavorless and usually undercooked. Often times pieces are stuck together and not cut all the way. In the restaurant, they are usually edible and come out hot.”
They continued, “Because of COVID, we’ve been doing takeout and I literally have to continue to cook them myself to make them edible. The last few times, the chicken was pink in the center as well. This has been the case in most locations since they changed them. They often seem like they were merely microwaved for a couple of minutes.”
