Taika Waititi is crushing in both his professional and personal life, as he’s not only one of the most in-demand filmmakers in Hollywood, but he’s also married to British pop star Rita Ora.

And if that wasn’t enough to make you jealous of Waititi’s charmed life, this certainly will: Rita Ora proposed *to him*. The guy got one of the most famous women in the world to fall so deeply in love that SHE is the one who popped the question.

“She proposed to me, and I said yes instantly,” filmmaker Taika Waititi says of how he and singer-songwriter Rita Ora became engaged.

Rita popped the question while the pair were on vacation in Palm Springs in the summer of 2022, and they planned an impromptu wedding to be held in Los Angeles a few weeks later. [via Vogue]

The 32-year-old Ora, who is perhaps best known for her song “Let Me Love You”, also released a music video for the song “You & I” that features footage from the couple’s wedding day.

With over 16 million followers on Instagram, Ora also has served as a coach on The Voice and as a panelist on The Masked Singer.

She’s also appeared in a handful of films such as Fast & Furious 6, all three Fifty Shades movies, Southpaw, Pokemon Detective Pikachu, Twist, Wonderwell, and Descendants: The Rise of Red. She’s also set to appear in the upcoming film Tin Soldier alongside Robert De Niro, Jamie Foxx, and Scott Eastwood.

As for Waititi, following the disappointment that was 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, his next film to release will be Next Goal Wins, which stars Michael Fassbender and tells the true story of the American Samoa national soccer team. At this time, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 17.

Waititi is also attached to a variety of projects such as Tower of Terror, The Incal, Klara and the Sun, Akira, and a Star Wars movie.
