While has yet to have a chance to gauge the reaction of movie-going audiences, Oppenheimer star Robert Downey Jr. has already declared the Christopher Nolan-directed epic to be the best movie he’s ever made.

Speaking at a recent event prior to the official premiere of the film, the 58-year-old former Marvel Cinematic Universe star declared Oppenheimer to be the best movie that he’s ever been a part of.

Downey Jr., of course, has been in two of the highest-grossing movies of all time in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

“I’m just gonna flat out say it: this is the best film I’ve ever been in and I cannot wait for y’all to get to experience it with Cillian Murphy as our Oppenheimer,” Downey Jr. said.

In addition to Downey Jr., who plays Lewis Strauss, Oppenheimer also stars Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh in the starring roles.

Further cast members include the likes of Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Kenneth Branagh, Jack Quaid, Josh Peck, Alden Ehrenreich, Jason Clarke, Matthew Modine, Dane DeHaan, David Krumhooltz, David Dastmalchian, and more.

After laying low for the last few years following the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019 and Dolittle in 2020, Downey Jr. is not only set to feature in Oppenheimer but he also has the starring role in the upcoming HBO series The Sympathizer from South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook.

Oppenheimer will hit movie theaters across the United States on Friday, July 21.
