After years of waiting, The Batman: Part II is finally filming. Set to release on October 1, 2027, that would represent over a 5.5 year gap between the sequel and the original, which hit theaters in March 2022.

During a recent profile interview alongside fellow The Odyssey stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson — who has constructed one of Hollywood’s most promising A-list careers in recent years — had a typically hilarious explanation of how he handled the 5.5 year gap between the films.

“I’m like, ‘Well, I’ll do another movie in between’ … And then I ended up doing f—— a lot of movies,” Pattinson joked while speaking with GQ.

Since starring in as the Caped Crusader in 2022’s The Batman, Pattinson has completed a whopping EIGHT films (one of which was an English voice dub on the Studio Ghibli film The Boy and the Heron): Mickey 17, Die My Love, The Drama, The Odyssey, Primetime, Dune: Part Three and Here Comes The Flood. The latter five all releasing this year, with the trailer for Primetime just dropping last week.

The Batman: Part II, Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated sequel to The Batman, began filming last month. Alongside Pattinson returning as the Dark Knight, The Batman: Part II will also see the following actors reprising their roles: Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, Gil Perez-Abraham as GCPD officer Martinez, and Barry Keoghan as the Joker.

The new additions to the cast have only ramped up the hype for the film, as they include Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, Scarlett Johansson as his wife Gilda, and Charles Dance as his father, Charles Dent. Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Pattison will next be seen starring as the antagonistic Antinous in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026. Check out the official trailer below.
