Roseanne Barr has been shooting a new "secret" show called 'Meemaw'
It’s been almost a decade since Rosanne Barr got herself canceled for tweeting that a former advisor to President Obama was the baby of “muslim brotherhood and Planet of the Apes.” The disgraced comedy star is reportedly attempting a comeback with a “secretly” shot new series.
The framing of a new Rosanne Barr series being shot in “secret” is akin to the old “tree falling in the woods” adage — just because no one cared enough to find out about it doesn’t automatically make it a secret. The show was privately funded and currently has no official distributor or network.

The poster for the “show” was revealed on Thursday, October 8, and looked like an AI’s fever dream of a conservative-leaning comedy series, as it features Barr in a mink coat, holding a chicken, and lighting a cigarette with a flaming gun.

Barr isn’t the only fringe former celebrity participating in the project, as the cast also includes Randy Quaid (Independence Day), Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos), Omar Gooding (Cuba Gooding Jr’s brother), Indea Poulton-Callahan (Google has no idea who this person is), Doug Jones (a contortionist known for playing Abe Sapien in Hellboy), Patty Ross, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Jon Lovitz.
The series is titled Meemaw and features Barr as “the matriarch of a mixed-race family of preppers in Texas who is on a quest to throw her granddaughter the most fantastic bat mitzvah Texas has ever seen.”
“It’s every bit as revolutionary as The Roseanne Show, if not more, and my work has improved with time,” Barr told Page Six. “I want everybody who disagrees in a family to sit in the same room and just laugh and go, ‘Yeah, maybe I was an a—hole that time. Well, you were an a—hole this time. Oh, we’re all a—holes. Let’s get a beer.”
Since the cancelation of The Roseanne Show reboot in 2018, Barr’s two most notable projects have been her comedy special Cancel This!, which aired on Fox’s streaming service, and the Daily Wire animated series Mr. Birchum. This is likely the first time you’ve heard of either of them.
