Back in March, right on the heels of the season four premiere of Succession, it was reported that series star and Emmy-winning actor Matthew Macfadyen had signed on to star in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

During a recent interview with a Canadian outlet, Reynolds detailed how excited/anxious he is about working with Macfadyen on the film, which is set to begin production later this year.

“I think Matthew Macfayden is probably one of the most interesting actors working today. And the fact that he’s going to be on our Deadpool set each and every day is kind of nerve-wracking for me. I’ll be starstruck,” Reynolds told eTalkCTV.

“I am always rooting for him because he was one of the best actors out there. I mean, no joke. I love him in Succession. I can embrace a guy who straddles the line of villain and hero. And martyr. And many other things.”

In addition to Reynolds, Jackman, and Macfayden — whose role has yet to be officially revealed — Deadpool 3 is also set to feature The Crown breakout Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Morena Baccarin, and Karan Soni. At this time, the film is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on Friday, November 7, 2024.

With filming set to begin later this year, both Reynolds and Jackman are hard at work getting in superhero shape, with the 54-year-old Jackman — who last donned Wolverine’s iconic claws back in 2017’s Logan — posting regular fitness updates to his social media accounts.

Deadpool 3 is set to be helmed by frequent Reynolds collaborator Shawn Levy, who — in addition to producing the Stranger Things franchise and directing the Night at the Museum trilogy — has also directed the Reynolds-starring vehicles Free Guy and The Adam Project.
