Sam Neill's final role will be in the 'Legend of Zelda' movie
Sam Neill, the beloved New Zealand actor who starred in films such as Possession, The Hunt for Red October, Event Horizon, and Jurassic Park, passed away at the age of 78 last month. His final film role will reportedly come in the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda next Spring.
According to reports, Sam Neill, who died from pneumonia in Sydney, Australia, on July 13, will make his final film performance in The Legend of Zelda, the upcoming live-action film based on the iconic video game series.
At this time, however, it is not clear what character Neill is playing. One potential character he could be playing that fans have identified is King Rhoam, the King of Hyrule and Princess Zelda’s father.

“Sources tell us that the late Sam Neill also will appear in the film. Reps for Sony couldn’t be reached for comment, nor could Neill’s former reps. The project, which wrapped in April, will mark one of Neill’s final screen performances, if not the last. It’s not yet clear who he plays.” [via Deadline]
Prior to his passing, Neill also completed work on Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, hitting theaters on March 26, 2027, and the Philippine romantic comedy The Last Resort alongside Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich, which is also scheduled to release next year.
The Legend of Zelda, set to release on April 30, 2027, is directed by Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker Wes Ball. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will star as Link, while Bo Bragason will feature as Princess Zelda. Additional cast members include Uli Latukefu as Ganondor, Dichen Lachman as Impa, and Yvonne Strahovski.
