Sharon Stone has revealed that famed The Godfather producer Robert Evans once told her to sleep with co-star Billy Baldwin in order to improve Silver, the 1993 thriller that the pair starred in together.

During an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the Academy Award-nominated Stone — who became a sex symbol in the 1990s after her role in Basic Instinct — said that Evans believed the pair would have more chemistry on-screen if they actually had intimate relations.

Baldwin is the second-youngest of the Baldwin brothers and has starred in films such as Flatliners, Backdraft, and The Squid and the Whale.

“He is explaining to me that he slept with Ava Gardner and I should sleep with Billy Baldwin, because if I slept with Billy Baldwin, Billy Baldwin’s performance would get better,” Stone explained.

“And we needed Billy to get better in the movie because that was the problem. If I could sleep with Billy then we’d have chemistry on screen, and if I would just have sex with him then that would save the movie,” she continued.

“The real problem in the movie was me, because I was so uptight, and so not like a real actress who could just f— him and get things back on track. The real problem was I was such a tight a–.”

In addition to The Godfather, the infamous Paramount exec also produced Rosemary’s Baby in 1968 and Chinatown in 1974. Additional credits include Urban Cowboys, Popeye, The Two Jakes, The Italian Job, True Grit, Harold and Maude, Serpico, The Great Gatsby, and The Conversation.

Evans passed away in 2019 at the age of 89 years old, with his last film being How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days in 2003.

As for Stone, alongside her role in Basic Instinct and her Academy Award-nominated performance in Martin Scorsese’s Casino, Stone is also known for her work in films such as Total Recall, The Quick and the Dead, Catwoman, Alpha Dog, and The Disaster Artist.
