Shia LaBeouf apparently spent years trash-talking Hilary Duff
Shia LaBeouf has always apparently been Shia LaBeouf. According to a former Disney Channel actor, LaBeouf harbored years of ill will toward Hilary Duff, who was completely unaware of the one-sided beef.
Christy Carlson Romano, who played Ren Stevens on Even Steven, said during a podcast interview that her co-star Shia LaBeouf was “definitely beefing” with Hilary Duff while their shows overlapped on the network.
Shia LaBeouf allegedly trash-talked Hilary Duff’s ‘Lizzie McGuire’ throughout his Disney Channel career on Even Steven
Appearing on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, Romano claimed LaBeouf would “always be kind of like trash-talking Lizzie McGuire,” but “Hilary had no clue about that.”
Romano described LaBeouf as “very competitive” and said that “He wanted to be the number one show on the network.”
Romano is out on the podcast circuit promoting her memoir, Once Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star, in which she recalls a relationship with LaBeouf that was “like oil and water.”
In addition to Even Stevens, Romano also voiced the title character in Disney Channel’s hit animated series Kim Possible, which ran from 2002 to 2007. Her other credits include TV series such as Joan of Arcadia, Cadet Kelly, Summerland, Campus Confidential, Family Guy, Casper’s Scare School, Hawthorne, Wolvesbayne, and more.
As for LaBeouf, he was once considered to be an up-and-coming movie star after his lead roles in the first three Transformers movies and roles in films such as Holes, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, I, Robot, Constantine, A Guide to Recognizing You Saints, Disturbia, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Eagle Eye, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Lawless, and Fury.
Much-publicized personal issues have since derailed his career, with LaBeouf now largely appearing in projects on the fringes of Hollywood.
