SNL: ‘Black Panther’ Deleted Scene Reveals More Of T’Challa’s Ancestors

SNL jumped on the massive popularity of Black Panther with a sketch showing some of T’Challa’s ancestors that didn’t make the cut in the tremendous movie. In this “deleted scene” from Black Panther, T’Challa, played by Chris Redd, meets more of his ancestors in Djalia. Besides meeting his great, great grandfather, played by Sterling K. Brown who was also the host for this episode of Saturday Night Live, he also meets his Uncle M’Butu, played by Kenan Thompson. His uncle proves that not everyone in the afterlife is possesses unlimited knowledge.

While T’Challa’s great, great grandfather attempts to feed T’Challa with crucial wisdom on how to avoid a civil war in Wakanda, his uncle only wants to feed T’Challa a frozen lion burger. T’Challa traveled all the way to the ancestral plane only to have his Uncle M’Butu try to bum a few kimoyo beads off of him as he complains about the constant purple sky and that his spirit animal is a warthog.

The uncle-by-marriage also asks T’Challa for some vibranium so he can trade in his ostrich and upgrade to a kick-ass war rhino. Black Panther crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office this weekend and the head of Marvel revealed they already have a direction for the sequel.
