Yet Another ‘Spider-Man’ Spin-Off Is In The Works At Sony, But What Is It?

Whether or not anyone asked for it, Sony is sure as shit forging forward with their own little Marvel Universe, as recent reports indicate that yet another film in the franchise is set to be released in October 2021.

While Sony and Marvel Studios have made nice and will continue to foster the future of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man franchise as co-parents, that hasn’t stopped the studio who first brought the webslinger to the screen from growing their own cadre of Marvel related franchises. And it looks like those plans are advancing even further, as a new release date for another potential Spider-Man spinoff has just been announced to the public. [via CinemaBlend]

While it is unclear exactly what this film is going to be, fans have already begun speculating that it will either be a Kraven the Hunter solo movie or the long-awaited Sinister Six project, which has been in development for essentially a decade now.

In my humble semi-professional opinion, both a Kraven the Hunter movie or a Sinister Six movie would be something that I’m wildly interested in, certainly more so than the upcoming Morbius flick. Back in the days of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, Sony had already begun setting up the Sinister Six, so the idea has clearly been on their minds for some time.

Morbius, the next film in Sony’s Marvel Universe, will hit theaters in the United States on Friday, July 31. Then, on October 2, Venom 2 — which sees Woody Harrelson join the franchise — will be released.
